The goal of this map is to demonstrate clusters of Washington County families who settled in Missouri. Click on any county name to see a list of the adults (both married couples and single adults) who settled in that county (and who have narrative pages on this website). Couples who later moved to another Missouri county may be listed there as well.
Children are generally NOT listed. Adults who lived in an interim state before settling in Missouri may be listed.

You can drag the yellow icon out across the map and drop it on a blue-highlighted road to take a look from the ground (please read about Street View). Markers indicate the county seat, not a specific residence location. The area shaded in yellow was known as "Little Dixie" (additional information follows the map).
Little Dixie was an area along parts of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers settled primarily by families from Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
