The goal of this map is to track clusters of Washington County families who settled in Misouri. Click on a county name or orange flag to see a list of adults who settled in that county (and who have narrative pages on this website). Adults who later moved to another Missouri county may be listed there as well.
Children who traveled to Missouri with their parents are generally NOT listed. Adults who lived in an interim state before settling in Missouri may be listed.

Markers indicate the county seat, not a specific residence location. The area shaded in yellow was known as "Little Dixie" (additional information follows the map).
Little Dixie was an area along parts of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers settled primarily by families from Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
