Birth27 Apr 1816 William Dixon Hutton was born on 27 Apr 1816 near Glade Springs in Washington County, Virginia.2,5,6 
Marriage1 Jun 1840 He married Mary Eleanor Orr, daughter of James Orr and Jane Snodgrass, on 1 Jun 1840. William's sister Eliza had married Mary's brother John the previous year.7,8 
Migration1840  Not long after their wedding William and Mary migrated to Randolph County, Missouri. Family tradition states that several family members traveled together, bringing a wagon and several horses. Mary is supposed to have ridden a white horse she brought from Virginia.5 
  The couple settled in Salt River township, where over the next 21 or 22 years Mary gave birth to 11 children, 3 of whom died young (Porter in 1856, James and William in 1859) .

John purchased 540 acres in 1841, later adding another 160. The family home, originally a log cabin that was later replaced by a farm house, sat on land near the Old Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.9,10,11,12 
Widowed8 Nov 1874  Mary Eleanor died on 8 Nov 1874. 
Cens-18808 Jun 1880  Six years later William was enumerated on the 1880 cenus with son Charles (28) and youngest child Emma (18). Daughter Margaret and her husband Albert Robuck were recorded as a separate family in the same dwelling.13,14 
Death13 Apr 1894 William died on 13 Apr 1894 in Randolph County, Missouri, at age 77.15,16,6 
Burial He was buried, as was Mary, at Old Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.6
