BirthFeb 1827 James Clark was born in Feb 1827.4,6
Legatee12 Mar 1846 Eleanor Clark, writing her will in the Spring of 1846, left her estate to be equally divided amongst her 5 children, including James. She also noted that her daughters were already married and had received a portion of their share. Eleanor's estate was settled two years later, with James receiving his distributive share of $68.33.5,7
Marriage23 Jul 1857 He married Ann Eliza Cummings (Campbell) Worley, daughter of Capt David Campbell and Ann Ryburn, on 23 Jul 1857 in Washington County, Virginia.4,8
James and Ann were both about thirty years old. She was a widow with 2 small children.
Cens-186011 Oct 1860  They first lived near James's brother John and his wife Martha Ryburn Clark in Washington County.9
Migration  Sometime in the late 1860s James and Ann migrated to Warren township in Marion County, Missouri.
Cens-187013 Aug 1870 The 1870 census recorded James (43), Anne (43), Ann's 2 children from her first marriage (Ann Worley, 23 and John Worley, 21), and Ann and James's 3 children: David, 12, Ellen 10 and Ernest, age three. James was farming and stated that his land was valued at $7,200. Ann Worley and John Worley also each stated that they owned land worth $750. In addition, Ann's nephew, David McConnell, son of Ann's deceased sister Mary, also made his home with the family.10
Cens-188025 Jun 1880 By 1880 John Worley had returned to Virginia. Ann Worley's whereabouts in 1880 are not known to me at present. The 3 Clark children were all still at home in Marion County, Missouri with their parents.11
Cens-19005 Jun 1900  Twenty years later only 32 year old Ernest was still living at home. James and "Anna" had been married 43 years. Anna was recorded as the mother of 8 children, only 2 of whom were living. James and Ann were both 73 years old.6
Deathbefore 1910 James died before 1910 as Ann was listed as a widow on that year's census.12
At present I have only identified 6 of the 8 children born to Ann. It is possible 1 of the missing children was born to Ann and Jeremiah Worley but since they were only married 5 years (and had 2 known children before his death) it is more likely the missing children were born to Ann and James Clark.

It may be of note that David Campbell (Ann's brother) and his wife Susan shared their home with several relatives including, in 1880, a 13 year old enumerated as Frank (or Hank) Clark. His parents are not known to me but he was not enumerated with either David and Susan Campbell, or James and Ann Eliza Clark, in 1870.13

[S2268] Research of Tom Colley, Hanceville, Alabama; Mr. Colley cites the Washington County Death Register for the year 1866 originally held by the Virginia Bureau of Vital Statistics and viewed as Library of Virginia microfilm reel #30 which reports: James N. Clark, d. 6 Nov. 1866, age 1y, cause not given, s/o James & A. Clark, reported by father. Note: a detailed analysis by Mr. Colley of numerous deaths in this register for the Lower District (comparison to cemetery records, etc.) reveals that although the year of death was noted as 1866, the actual year of death was 1865.
