Eleanor gave birth to a son two months following John's death.
Probate Recd20 Feb 1827  The sale of various items from John's personal estate was recorded in court on Feb. 20th 1827. Eleanor puchased many of the items herself. Oddly, the sale was reported to have taken place on Dec. 7th, 1826, 6 days before John's death. Clearly either the court record of his headstone reading is incorrect.14

  6. [S2] Catherine McConnell, High On A Windy Hill, p. 177. This book of abstracted records appears to list Eleanor (d. 1846) and James (d. 1847) Clark as husband and wife. However, John (d.1826) Clark is listed directly above James and Eleanor. The position of these stones needs clarifying at the cemetery.

  8. [S16] The inference in Windy Hill that Eleanor married James Clark instead of John Clark is contradicted by other records. James (d. 1847) left a will naming his wife "Jane". Also Eleanor's son, James, in his marriage application dated 1857, named his parents as John and Ellen Clark.
