Marriage25 Jun 1816 He and Ann Ryburn, daughter of William Ryburn and Mary (?), were married by Rev. Stephen Bovell on 25 Jun 1816 in Washington County, Virginia.5,6 
Residence David and Ann lived on Hughe's Creek, a few miles east of Abingdon.7 
Cens-18401840  David's 1840 census entry indicated the size of the couple's family. Seven children were indicated in appropriate age categories [daughter Jane had married in 1838]. Eight slaves were also part of the household.8 
Cens-18501850  Ten years later David and Ann were enumerated on the 1850 census of Washington County, three years before David's death at the age of sixty. David stated that he was a farmer and that he owned land valued at $3,200. The couple's three youngest sons (John 19, David 17, and Jacob 13) were also recorded.9 
Will6 May 1853 David wrote his will on May 6, 1853. He remembered his wife Ann and left her the tract of land on which they lived as well as all the stock and household possessions as long as she remained a widow. After her death David directed that the land was to be divided between his 3 youngest sons John W., David A.P. and Jacob T.L.B. Campbell. They were to pay their brother James L.F. Campbell $500.00 and their brother William B. Campbell $400. David also left money to his daughters Jane H. Carmack (with the stipulation that her husband Isaac Carmack was not to have use of it) and Ann Eliza Worley, as well as to his grandchildren Sarah E. and David McConnell, children of David's deceased daughter Mary Ann. James and William were named as executors, but when the will was entered in court on September 26, 1853 William refused the executorship. James took the oath after presenting bond in the amount of twelve thousand dollars.10 
Death13 Sep 1853 David died on 13 Sep 1853 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 60.4,11,1 
Burial He was buried at Sinking Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
