Birth1 Aug 1819 Jane Hamilton Campbell was born on 1 Aug 1819.1
Marriage29 Mar 1838 She married Isaac Carmack on 29 Mar 1838 in Washington County, Virginia.3
Legatee6 May 1853 Jane's father, David Campbell, wrote his will on May 6, 1853, the same day Jane, in her early 30s, gave birth to her 7th child . David was apparently not pleased with his son-in-law's finances, as he carefully excluded Isaac from having any influence over Jane's inheritance. She received $100 cash and a share of David's personal estate. She also received a life interest in a slave named Angelina, who with her increase was to become the property of Jane's children at Jane's death.4
Interestingly, 33 years later the behavior of Jane's son, James Thomas Carmack, would elicit similar restrictions in the will of his own father-in-law.
Cens-Sum Isaac and Jane farmed in the Goodson district of Washington County. Despite whatever differences they may have had with her father, they remained together and raised a family of 9 children. Both Isaac and Jane lived into their 70s.5,6,7,8
Cens-1860- Slave10 Jun 1860  Prior to the Civil War 4 slaves also belonged to their household.9
Death26 Jun 1894 Jane died on 26 Jun 1894 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 74.10
Burial She was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.10
