Birth19 Feb 1787 Nancy Clark was probably born on 19 Feb 1787.3,4,5
Marriage9 Nov 1809 She and David Beattie, son of David Beattie and Mary Beattie, were married by Rev. Edward Crawford on 9 Nov 1809 in Washington County, Virginia.6,7
Three years later Nancy's brother John Clark married David's sister Mary Beattie.
Cens-18301830  David was recorded in 1830 in Washington County with the following unnamed members of his household: 1 male (10-15), 2 males 15-20), 1 male (40-50) [probably David], 1 male (50-60); 1 female (under 5), 1 female (5-10), 3 females (10-15), 1 female (15-20) and 1 female (40-50). This record is consistent with the presence of David and Nancy with sons Armstrong, John and James as well as an unidentified 50-60 year old male. The younger females are consistent with the ages of daughters Elizabeth, Margaret, Ellen, Isabella and Mary, as well as an additional 10-15 year old female.8
Land-Sell21 Aug 1843  In the summer and early fall of 1843 David and Nancy sold their land in Washington County. William B. Byars purchased 335 acres for $5,000. This tract consisted of the land David inherited from his father David Beattie, as well as a porition of the acreage originally inherited by David's brother Armstrong. Ten acres, also originally part of the David Beattie Sr. land, was purchased by John Clark for $90.9
Migrationcirca 1844 Nancy and David then left Virginia and migrated to Andrew County, Missouri. Six of their children (the youngest was abt 16) accompanied them.10
Land  In Andrew County David owned the southwest quarters of sections 31 and 32 in township 60N, Range 34W. He purchased the tracts in June and July of 1846 at a cost of $1.25 per acre.11,12
1846  This land was part of Platte township until Empire township was created in 1872.
WidowedNov 1847  Nancy was widowed when David died in November 1847. His will left the Andrew County land to his two sons John and Armstrong with the stipulation they were to provide for Nancy.
Cens-185011 Oct 1850  The 1850 census enumeration for Platte township in Andrew County recorded Nancy as the head of a household that included her youngest daughter Elizabeth Strock along with Amos Strock and 2 Strock children. Nancy's sons Armstrong and John were the adjacent households.5
Cens-186027 Jul 1860  The Strock family moved to Kansas in the late 1850s and Nancy accompanied them. In 1860 she was enumerated as "Nancy Beatty, 74" residing in the household of Amos Strock in Quindaro township, Wyandotte County, Kansas.4
Burial Nancy may have been buried in Colburn Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.13

  3. [S1546] Peter and Margaret Clark Bible. The last number in the year of birth recorded for Nancy in the Bible is not clear. It had been written over at some point in a manner that vaguely suggests 1786 but since Nancy's brother John's entry is clearly August 9, 1785 (and confirmed by his headstone) Nancy cannot have been born in February 1786. Since the Bible was not published until 1816 these entries all have to have been made some years after the fact.
