Birth25 May 1837 Sarah Isabella Moffett was born on 25 May 1837 in Carroll County, Illinois.1 
Marriage1 Jan 1856 She married Emanuel Stover on 1 Jan 1856 in Carroll County.2,3 
  The winter following their marriage Sarah and Emanuel traveled east for the winter. Their plans included a stop in Washington DC to watch the inauguration of President James Buchanan [Wed. March 4, 1857].4 
Cens-18601860  Sarah and Emanuel spent the next few years farming in Freedom township (Carroll Co.).5 
  However, they later moved into the community of Lanark. There they also provided a home for Harriett Shirk, the daughter of Sarah's cousin, Sarah (Moffett) Shirk.6,7 
Occupation The 1870 census listed Emanuel's occupation as a "patent right dealer". A later county history stated that he manufacturered Stover Wind Pumps and barbs for fence wire.8,6 
Widowed4 Apr 1890  Sarah was widowed at age 52 when Emanuel died in the spring of 1890. 
Cens-Sum  In the years that followed Sarah left Carroll County. She settled first in Rockford, Illinois where she lived for awhile with her son Frank and his wife Anna. When the younger couple left Rockford Sarah remained behind, renting a home herself. By 1920 she had settled in Cleveland, Ohio where she rented rooms in an apartment building on Euclid Ave. known as "The Haddam". Her other son, Robert, and his wife Edith also lived on Euclid Ave.9,10,11 
Death5 Jan 1929 Sarah died of pneumonia on 5 Jan 1929 at age 91.12,13 
Burial8 Jan 1929 She was buried on 8 Jan 1929 at Lanark Cemetery in Lanark, Carroll County, Illinois.12,13
