Birth6 Sep 1858 Caira Elizabeth Stover was born on 6 Sep 1858 in Freedom Township, Carroll County, Illinois.1,3
The correct spelling of this child's full name is not known to me. Mary Jane Beattie Davis Moffett (her grandmother) recorded it as Caira Elizabeth in a journal written in the 1870s. The 1860 census uses Carrie E. Records left by her brother Robert in the early 1900s list it as Clarissa. Cemetery records kept by the local sexton use Cora (or Cara) C.. However a reading of her headstone done by the local genealogy society some years ago uses Cariessa C.
Death10 Apr 1863 Caira died of croup on 10 Apr 1863 in Carroll County at age 4.3
Burial She was first buried at Wolfe Cemetery in Carroll County. Years later she was reinterred at Lanark Cemetery as were other family members.
