MotherJane Dickson d. bef 23 Feb 1808
Birth Dickson Hutton was born in Pennsylvania.
Migration  Dickson's early childhood was spent in York County, Pennsylvania, however in the mid 1780s the family moved south into Washington Co., Virginia where Dickson's father purchased a large tract of land on what would eventually be known as Hutton Creek.
Land-Buy18 Jun 1799  Dickson acquired his own land in 1799 when he purchased 50 acres from Robert Baker of Greene Co., Tennessee. The tract sat on the east side of Baker's [later Hutton] Creek and adjacent to Dickson's father's land.4
Marriage31 Dec 1807 Dickson married first Jane Jamison, daughter of John Jamison, on 31 Dec 1807 in Washington County, Virginia.5
Legatee23 Feb 1808  Dickson appears to have been his parent's youngest son. John's will left Dickson all his land, most of his farm animals and all of the farm "utinsels."2
John had previously sold tracts of land to Dickson's older brothers. The parcel left to Dickson was the first tract John purchased when he brought the family down from Pennsylvania in the 1780s and it appears to be the tract on which John was living at his death. It sat directly opposite the 50 acres Dickson purchased from Robert Baker in 1799.
Marriage16 Jun 1820 Dickson married second Elizabeth McCready, daughter of William McCready, on 16 Jun 1820 in Washington County.6,7
WillAug 1835 Dickson wrote his will in Aug 1835. He left his son Washington in charge of the family. Washington and his brother William were to jointly own the tract of land on which the family lived. Dickson mentioned his son Isaac and stated that since he was of lawful age he did not have a claim on the family for support. However Isaac was to receive a share of the proceeds from the sale of several slaves as were Dixon's daughters Esther, Jane D. and Eliza Ann Hutton (who were not yet "of age").8
Deathbefore 28 Sep 1835 Dickson died before 28 Sep 1835 on which date his will was recorded in Washington County.1

Research Comment:

Did Dickson have an additional, previously unidentified son named John? Or was his son Isaac's full name Isaac John or possibly John Isaac?
