Birth-Calccirca 19 Sep 1840 George Hale was born in Tennessee circa 19 Sep 1840.3 
Marriage He married Margaret Lavinia Buchanan, daughter of William C. P. Buchanan and Julia Brown.4 
Cens-State1865 A few years after their marriage, George and Margaret were recorded on the 1865 Illinois State Census for Wayne County. A female under the age of ten was listed with them, representing their first daughter, Flora, born around 1863. Margaret would have likely been expecting their second child, Leander.5 
Cens-Sum Later census records clarify that Margaret and George spent their married life farming in Indian Prairie township where they raised a family of ten (obituary) or eleven (1900 census) children, 9 of whom have been identified, including a son named William and a daughter named Julia, no doubt named for Margaret's parents.2,4 
Injury19 Jun 1893 On 19 Jun 1893 George was severely injured when a large pile of lumber fell on top of him at the local sawmill. He died a few days later.6 
Death23 Jun 1893 George died on 23 Jun 1893 in Wayne County, Illinois.3 
Burial He was buried at Hale Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois.3
