Relationship  Lucy may have been the daughter of Richard Clarkson (see Richard's narrative page for additional information). 
Marriage30 Jan 1845 She married Mathew R. Buchanan, son of William Buchanan and Margaret Ryburn, on 30 Jan 1845 in Howard County, Missouri.2 
Cens-18501850 Lucy and Mathew lived in Scotland County, Missouri at the time of the 1850 census enumeration. Their 4 year old son Francis was present as was a 14 year old named Prescilla Clarkson.4 
Death28 Oct 1858 Lucy died on 28 Oct 1858 at age 30.1 
Burial She was buried at Camp Ground Cemetery in Scotland County, Missouri.1 

Research Comment:

Previous researchers have suggested that Lucy's maiden name was Bridges, however they have not been able to locate a marriage record in support of that claim. Instead, the evidence suggests Lucy's maiden name was Clarkson. She was most likely a daughter of Richard Clarkson and therefore a sister of William Samuel Clarkson who married Mathew Buchanan's sister Mary Ann. Mathew Buchanan and Lucy Ann Clarkson's marriage was recorded in Howard County, Missouri in January, 1845. Mathew's family is known to have been in Howard County by 1843 as his younger sister Eliza was born in Howard County in July 1843.2,5,6
