Moth-Death  Hattie's mother died when Hattie was an infant. 
Cens-19001900 Hattie lived for a short time with her widowed maternal grandmother, Almeda [Celie Amilda] Hall in Cass County.3,4 
Cens-191010 Apr 1910  Hattie then lived with her father's brother, Charles Carmack, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Ryburn) Carmack. They did not have children of their own, but raised Hattie. She was recorded living in their home in Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas, in 1910.5 
  However the following summer Charles and Elizabeth both died in an accident.2 
Education Hattie then attended East Texas Normal College [now East Texas State Teacher's College] where she received a teaching certificate.2 
  After completing her studies Hattie returned to Bristol where she became a governess in the home of Dr. Booher. One evening Dr. Booher gave a party to which he invited Claude Stone. Hattie was tending to the children, but Claude spotted her and asked to be introduced.2 
Marriage28 Jun 1916 She married Claude Herbert Stone on 28 Jun 1916 in Washington County, Virginia.2 
Cens-193012 Apr 1930 By 1930 Hattie and Claude were living on Sycamore Street in Bristol, Virginia. Claude worked as a glazer for a glass company. Also enumerated in the household on that year's census were Claude and Hattie's children James and Sarah, as well as Claude's widowed mother, Sallie (age 70).6 
Death23 Sep 1978 Hattie died on 23 Sep 1978 in Dallas, Texas, at age 81.7 
Burial She was buried at High Point Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.7
