Military15 Mar 1862 On 15 Mar 1862 "A.D." Rosenbalm enlisted as a private in Co. D or the First Virginia Cavalry for a 3 year term. Andrew and his horse then traveled from Abingdon to Strasburg, Virginia to join the company. However, Andrew quickly fell ill and in August 1862 returned home to recuperate.5 
Marriage22 Oct 1863 He married first Sarah Jane Buchanan, daughter of John D. Buchanan and Sarah Morefield, on 22 Oct 1863 in Washington County.3 
  Shortly after the wedding Andrew rejoined his company with which he served through 1864.6 
Widowed9 Nov 1868  Andrew was widowed when Sarah died in November, 1868. 
Marriage12 Nov 1874 He married second Sarah Jane R. Buchanan, daughter of Russell M. Buchanan and Rosannah Buchanan Fullen, on 12 Nov 1874 in Washington County.1 
Cens-188017 Jun 1880  Sarah and Andrew lived and farmed in the Holston district of Washington County. Also enumerated with them in 1880 were Andrew's children: Sarah, 14, Flora 12, Callie 10 [ages probably not correct] and Andrew's brother, George 51.7 
Death8 Apr 1899 Andrew died on 8 Apr 1899 at age 58.4 
Burial He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
