Marriage | 12 Sep 1836 | She married Russell M. Buchanan, son of William Buchanan and Sarah Ryburn, on 12 Sep 1836 in Washington County, Virginia.4 |

Widowed | Apr 1855 | Russell's death in April 1855 left Rosannah, at the age of 35, with 8 children to raise. Two months later her son Andrew also died. Rosanah's father had died when she was eight, and her mother died when Rosannah was fourteen, so she had known a fair share of tragedy already. |

Margaret owned real estate valued at $8,000 and personal property of over $5,000, a not insignificant amount for the neighborhood.6 |

In addition, Mattie Snodgrass (17), Rosanna's granddaughter, was also enumerated on the census with them. Mattie's father had died in the Civil War and her mother (Rosanna's daughter Mary Ann) died of consumption in 1872.10 |
