Cens-190019 Jun 1900  Samuel and Sarah lived and farmed in the Holston District of Washington County where they raised a family of 7 children. In 1900 Sarah reported that 1 of those children was no longer living. The other 6 children were all enumerated with the family and ranged from 17 year old "Batty" [Beattie] to 2 year old Russell.5 
Cens-19101910  Ten years later sons William and Russell were still at home. William was teaching school. He was recently married and his wife Mary was also recorded.8 
Death23 Mar 1914 Samuel died on 23 Mar 1914 in Washington County.1,9 
Burial He was buried at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1
