Cens-18509 Sep 1850 Five years before his death Russell was enumerated in Washington County, Virginia with his wife Rosannah and their 7 children. He was also providing a home for his stepmother, Margaret Buchanan.5 
Death12 Apr 1855 Russell died on 12 Apr 1855 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 43 of inflammation of the brain.1 
  Two months after Russell's death in April 1855 his eight year old son Andrew died of scarlet fever.
