Birth16 Mar 1828 Mary Ann Buchanan was born on 16 Mar 1828 in Virginia.2 
Migration  Her family left Virginia and migrated west to Missouri, probably in the early 1840s. 
Marriage She married William Samuel Clarkson, son of Richard Clarkson, in Howard County, Missouri.1 
Cens-18502 Sep 1850 Mary and William were enumerated living in in Jefferson township, Scotland County, Missouri, in 1850. Also listed were Elizabeth, age 1, and Sarah E. age 5 (recorded after Elizabeth).3 
  Sarah was William's younger sister.4,5 
Landbefore 1858  William owned 40 acres of land in Scotland County, Missouri, prior to 1858. It sat adjacent to lands owned by William Buchanan.6  
Cens-Sum William (or Samuel as he seems to have been known in later years) and Mary Ann were again enumerated in Jefferson township in 1860 and 1870.7,8 
Death17 Jul 1871 Mary died on 17 Jul 1871 at age 43.2 
Burial She was buried at Camp Ground Cemetery in Scotland County, Missouri.2 
Heirbetween 1878 and 1886 Mary Ann's uncles, Robert, James and Mathew Buchanan left a large estate in Washington County, Virginia. The estate was distributed beginning in 1877, by which time Mary Ann was deceased. Monies were paid to: Elizabeth Barker [wife of John], William P. Clarkson, Alice Clarkson, James Clarkson and John R. Clarkson.9,10 

Research Comment:

There exists in Howard County, Missouri a marriage record for a William S. Clarkson and a Sarah E.M. Buckhanan, dated Oct. 1845. Is this the marriage of William and Mary Ann, but with the bride's name misrecorded?11
