In 1891 Abraham Gobble Moffett, son of Mary Anne (Gobble) Moffett's brother John Moffett, wrote a letter to his son-in-law, B.F. Barndollar of Burlington, Colorado. It stated, "Father [Capt. John Moffett] had an Uncle George [Moffett] that I have heard him speak of. They all claimed as old aunt Mary Ann used to say, they had some Royal blood in them or so thought."12 |

It was proved in court 30 Sept. 1811.
