Birth11 Aug 1840 Isabella Moffett was born on 11 Aug 1840 in Rush County, Indiana.2,3
Migration1857 In 1857 Isabella migrated to Kansas with her parents and two brothers. They settled in Woodson County.3
Marriage8 May 1859 She married Caleb Thomas Noell, son of (?) Noell, on 8 May 1859 in Coffey County, Kansas.4,5
Cens-18601860  Isabella appears to have been enumerated twice in 1860, once as a single woman in her father's household and once as a married woman living with her husband and infant child. On July 7th Isabella was listed as a 19 year old in the home of Wesley Moffit [her father] in Woodson County. The Coffey County enumerator reached the K.T. Noell home in late September where he recorded K[aleb]T[Thomas] (21), Isabella (20) and A[lice]N[orbourne] (2 months).6,7
Widowed24 Nov 1861  Whatever the explanation, Isabelle was widowed shortly thereafter when Caleb died in November 1861. She was pregnant with her second child at the time [a son she named Caleb Thomas]. Isabelle's obituary tells how during her widowhood she had some trying experiences with the Indians, including one night where she had to flee from them in the dark of the night.3
Marriage3 Jun 1862 She married second Augustin Holland on 3 Jun 1862 in Coffey County, Kansas.8,9
Augustin's name appears in many records spelled Augustine. He appears to have been a successful farmer, claiming land valued at $7,000 on the 1865 Kansas territorial census.10
Cens-187010 Jul 1870 At the time of the 1870 census, Augustine and Isabella lived in Avon Township (Coffey County) with their two children Charles and Eddie, his two children from his first marriage, Bishop and Wallace, and her two children from her marriage to Caleb Noell. Isabelle, at twenty-nine, was raising five boys and one girl, all thirteen or younger.11
She would give birth to an additional 5 children after 1870. In addition, a son named Edwin died in infancy.
Cens-18801880 By June 1880 Isabella and Augustin lived in the town of Burlington (Coffey Co.) where Augustine worked as a laborer. The household also included 7 children who ranged in age from 18 year old Caleb Noell to 2 year old Myrtle Holland.12
31 Mar 1883  Augustine and Isabella's last child, a daughter named Elnora, was born the following year. However, the couple appear to have had a rocky relationship; in March 1883 Augustin sued Isabella for divorce saying she abandoned him, struck and kicked him and refused to live with him. The case was apparently dropped as they were still married at the time of Augustin's death in 1891.13,14
Residencefrom 1892 to 1897 After Augustine's death Isabella moved to Weeping Water, Cass County, Nebraska. Her son Caleb Noell Jr. had settled there in 1886.15
Residence1903 By 1903 Isabella had returned to Kansas where she lived about 8 miles from Winfield (Cowley Co.), with her son Edgar Holland, and her brother John Moffett.16
Death7 Apr 1910 Isabella died of dilotation of the heart, 7 Apr 1910, at the home of her daughter, Nora Yates, at Burlington, Kansas.3
Burial She was buried at Glendale Cemetery in Pottawatomie Township, Coffey County, Kansas.17
