Birth15 Dec 1806 Wesley Moffett was born on 15 Dec 1806, probably in Virginia.2
Migration1810 As a small child Wesley left Virginia and migrated to Wayne (now Union) County, Indiana, with his parents and older siblings.3
Landbetween 1820 and 1821 He was among the first settlers in Rushville township, Rush County, Indiana, having bought land there between 1820 and 1821 when the Brookville land office opened.4,5

Children Wesley and Catherine had seven children, however not one of the first four survived to reach their 4th birthday. Two, Mary and Martha, died within a month of each other in the fall of 1835, suggesting perhaps a contagious childhood illness struck the young family.
Cens-185010 Sep 1850  The 1850 census for Rush County recorded Wesley and Catherine and their 3 surviving children: Ferdinand (12), Isabel (9) and John H. (7). The adjacent household was headed by William Moffett [Wesley's cousin].8
Migration1855 Wesley and Catharine moved to Hancock County, Indiana, in 1855.
Migration1857 Two years later they moved to Woodson County in the Kansas Territory and settled in the northwest corner of the county, about 12 miles from Leroy and about 12 miles from Burlington.9
Sometime before his death, Wesley and Catherine acquired a family bible. Wesley entered his parent's dates of birth and death, as well as information on his own family. After his death the Bible passed to his daughter Isabelle and her brother John Harvey. Eventually it found its way to John's son Joseph Estell Moffett and then to his children.10
Death28 Jan 1862 Wesley died on 28 Jan 1862 in Woodson County, Kansas, at age 55.11,12
