Birth23 Nov 1847 Samuel Washington Ryburn was born on 23 Nov 1847.2 
Fath-Death2 Oct 1864 Samuel's father died fighting for the Confederate army on October 2nd, 1864. 
Ward24 Oct 1864  Three weeks later Samuel, who was 16, became the ward of David O. King.3 
Cens-18701870  However Samuel, along with his older brother William, remained on the family farm, along with their widowed mother and two younger sisters.4 
Marriage12 May 1870 He married Stacy Maria Crumley, daughter of Daniel W. Crumley and Stacy Jones, on 12 May 1870 in Blountville, Sullivan County, Tennessee.5 
Cens-18809 Jun 1880 Ten years later they were enumerated in the 2nd District of Sullivan County with their 4 children.6 
Cens-190017 Jun 1900 By the time the 1900 census was enumerated Samuel was 52 years old. He reported that he had been married 30 years and that he was a farmer. Stacy reported her age as 50 and said that she was the mother of 4 children, all of whom were living. Three of those children were still at home and were enumerated with Samuel and Stacy: William, at 26 was a school teacher; Stacy (Roetta) was 25 and Samuel was 22.7 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920 Samuel and Stacy appeared on the 1910 and 1920 census enumerations for Sullivan County as well. As in each census year since they first appeared together in 1880, they were recorded in the 2nd Civil District, suggesting they had lived on the same land since the time of their marriage.8,9 
Cens-19308 Apr 1930  Stacy died in 1929, leaving Samuel alone at age 81. The 1930 census recorded him the year before his death, still living in the 2nd Civil District. His daughter Lille and her family were enumerated as the adjacent household.10 
Death1 Sep 1931 Samuel died on 1 Sep 1931 in Sullivan County at age 83.11,2 
Burial He was buried at Cold Spring Cemetery in Sullivan County, Tennessee.2
