MotherMargaret Hutton b. abt 1780, d. aft Sep 1870
Marriage8 Mar 1837 Eleanor Snodgrass married Isaac Hutton, son of Dickson Hutton and Jane Jamison, on 8 Mar 1837 in Washington County, Virginia.2
They were first cousins. Isaac's father and Eleanor's mother were siblings. The two families lived on adjacent tracts of land on the waters of Baker's [later Hutton's] Creek in Washington County.
Land-Sell3 Jun 1837  Three months after their marriage, Isaac and Eleanor sold their interest in an undivided tract of land in Washington County to John Snodgrass and Edward Snodgrass for $300. Moses Snodgrass sold his interest to John and Edward Snodgrass as well. In 1854 John Snodgrass sold the same acreage to Philip Snapp, noting that he had previously purchased the interest of his brother Moses Snodgrass, deceased, and sister Eleanor Snodgrass, deceased. The deed also clarified that the land had belonged to John's father John Snodgrass who had been willed it by his father, also a John Snodgrass.3,4
The Snodgrass and Hutton families who lived along Hutton Creek were very intertwined. Eleanor had a first cousin also named Eleanor Snodgrass. That Eleanor was the daughter of John Snodgrass' brother Joseph and Margaret Hutton's sister Ann Hutton, and she married her first cousin Arthur Hutton whose father, James Hutton was Ann (Hutton) Snodgrass and Margaret (Hutton) Snodgrass' brother.
Deathbefore 19 Apr 1849 Eleanor probably died before 19 Apr 1849.4

Research Comment:

Isaac and Eleanor may have left Washington County after their marriage and settled in Indiana. Isaac's brother Washington Hutton migrated to Indiana about that time, ultimately settling in Boone County. The 1840 census for Clinton County, Indiana [adjacent to Boone], includes an Isaac Hutton (age 20-30) with 1 female (age 15-20). Isaac was not enumerated in Washington Co., Virginia in 1840.

The 1850 Boone Co. census includes an entry for a 38 year old Isaac Hutton (school teacher, birth place unknown). Enumerated with him was Elizabeth Hutton, 35, b. Tennessee. Two children were also listed but their names were smudged. They were both born in Indiana; one was a 10 year old female and the other was a 3 month old female.5
Boone County marriage records contain an entry for Isaac Hutton and Elizabeth Engledow who married on April 19th, 1849, suggesting Eleanor died in Boone County prior to that date.

I have not located Isaac or Elizabeth after 1850.6
