Birth21 Mar 1851 Samuel Beattie Ryburn Dunn was probably born on 21 Mar 1851, as recorded in a family bible kept by his sister Emily, although his headstone says he was born in 1852. The location was Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia.4,5,6,7,8 
Marriage15 Jun 1875 He married Mary Scott Jackson, daughter of Minter Jackson and Mary Katherine Fell, on 15 Jun 1875 at the Exchange Hotel in Marion, Smyth County, Virginia.9,10,11 
Cens-188030 Jun 1880 After their marriage Samuel and Mary lived in the Black Lick District of Wythe County. There they were enumerated with their three young children in 1880. Samuel worked as a store clerk. Also living with them was Edwin Sanders, age 65 who was listed on the census as a boarder.12 
  Samuel's sister, Sally (Dunn) Rogers and her family also lived in Wythe County. 
Cens-19007 Jun 1900 By 1900 the family had returned to Washington County, where the census taker recorded Samuel and Mary, who had been married 25 years, and 5 of their children. Mary stated that she was the mother of 12 chldren, of whom only 6 were living.7 
Residence  The family lived in a large white house with a double porch on Old Mill Road in Glade Spring.13 
Occupation Samuel was a druggist in the community, as was his son Minter.14 
Death6 Sep 1908 Samuel died on 6 Sep 1908 in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia, at age 57.15,8 
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.8
