BirthJun 1885 or Jun 1886 Cloydine Ernest Dunn was probably born on the 11th of June in either 1885 (headstone) or 1886 (1900 census). However, a third record reported the date as June 11, 1887.4,5,1
Cloydine's parents were enumerated in Wythe County, Virginia in 1880. Cloydine may have been born there or after they returned to Washington County.
Residence  In Washington county the family lived in a large white house on Old Mill Road in Glade Spring.6
Cens-19007 Jun 1900  Cloydine was enumerated in her father's home in Washington County in 1900. She was 13; one of 5 children still at home. The census also recorded that Cloydine's mother had given birth to 12 children but that only 6 were living.5
Fath-Death6 Sep 1908  Cloydine's father died in September, 1908.
Cens-191021 Apr 1910 When the 1910 census of Washington County was taken Cloydine was single and living with her mother and two sisters.7
Moth-Death13 May 1910  A few weeks after the census was recorded Cloydine's mother died.
Shortly afterwards Cloydine became a nanny for the family of Walter Jackson Sr. who was her mother's half brother. Walter himself died in 1912. He and his wife Josephine had just one child, Walter, Jr., who was apparently Cloydine's "charge."2
Cens-19207 Jan 1920 However, in 1920, Mrs. Jackson and Walter were enumerated in Smyth County and Cloydine appears to have been enumerated living with her second cousin, Whitley Ryburn in Glade Spring, Washington County. A Miss Dunn (and a Miss Jackson) were enumerated living in the household, but neither woman's age or birth information was recorded.8
Anecdote  At some point, Cloydine, as well as Mrs. Jackson (her future mother-in-law) and Walter Jackson (her future husband) all lived with Whitley and Mollie Ryburn in Glade Spring, Washington County. The chronology is not clear.9
Marriage27 Aug 1923 She married Walter Beattie Jackson Jr., son of Walter Beattie Jackson and Josephine Lillian Beldon, on 27 Aug 1923 at Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.10
She was about 38 and he was about 21.
They were also first cousins, their parents being half-siblings.
Cens-193010 Apr 1930  Walter and Cloydine were enumerated in 1930 living in Marion with Walter's mother. The large stone house, which was by then described as on West Main Street, was valued at $12,000, which was consistent with the homes of other professional people in the neighborhood. Walter described himself as an investment broker. Cloydine listed her age as 35 which was "off" by about 10 years.11,6
Despite the difference in their ages, Walter and Cloydine apparently enjoyed a happy marriage. Cloydine actually outlived Walter, who died in 1965 at the age of 63. Cloydine died a few years later. The couple did not have children.
Death28 May 1971 Cloydine died on 28 May 1971 in Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia.12,13
Burial31 May 1971 She was buried on 31 May 1971 at Round Hill Cemetery in Smyth County, Virginia.12,13

He kept a notebook in which he recorded the names and dates of Mary's children. Children born after Stephen's 1892 death were entered by another family member, possibly some years after their birth as all of the dates to not appear accurate.
