Marriage6 Oct 1894 Walter married Josephine Lillian Beldon, daughter of James Beldon, on 6 Oct 1894 at Nyack on Hudson New York.6,7
Cens-190011 Jun 1900 Following their marriage Walter and Josephine lived in Marion (Smyth County) Virginia, where Walter was employed as a bank teller.8
Walter worked for the Bank of Marion, which his father, Minter Jackson, founded in 1874. Walter became the bank's cashier around the time of his father's death. This was a position of great responsibility in the banking world at the turn of the century. Walter was well known as a financier who combined the shrewdest business instincts with absolute honesty.5
Devisee1907  Minter Jackson wrote his will in June 1906. He named Walter as his executor and also as trustee for his sister Mary Dunn's share of the estate. Walter also received all those parts of his father's estate not specifically bequeathed to others. Minter clearly had great faith in his son as the will stated that no bond was required of Walter to administer the estate. Walter posted a $50,000 bond anyway, an indication of the size of the estate.9
The 1910 census recorded Walter, Josephine and their young son Walter Jr. residing on Main St. in Marion. However Walter was in the process of building a new mansion which he designed and built without the aid of an architect or contractor. Unfortunately he did not live long enough to enjoy either his new home or his inherited wealth.10,5
Death16 Aug 1912 He died on 16 Aug 1912 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland at age 47. He had traveled to Baltimore after becoming ill at home in Marion.11,5
Burial He was buried at Round Hill Cemetery in Smyth County, Virginia.1
