Cens-191025 Apr 1910 Following their marriage, "Maggie" and Albert Sydney (or Sydney Albert) settled in Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas, where Sydney worked as a railroad fieman. In April 1910, when that decade's census was enumerated, the couple were recorded with a 1 month old son, "C.J.A.". They were also providing a home for Albert's parents.6
Occupation1918 In 1918, at the time of the WWI draft Sidney was employed as a flour packer at the Waco Mill and Elevator Company [Waco is in McLennan Co. - just SE of Bosque].7
ResidenceSep 1918  The family lived at 920 Jefferson in Waco.7
Cens-192029 Jan 1920  Shortly afterwards they must have left Waco as they were enumerated back in Hood County in January 1920. The entire family lived with Maggie's father and brother in Granbury. Sidney did not follow his in-law's path and work as a stockman or farmer, but instead was employed in "oil". The family consisted of: Maggie (29), Sidney (37), Jack (9), Marcus (8), Lucille (5), Edna Earl (3) and Lorraine (11/12).8
Cens-19307 Apr 1930  Both Maggie and Sidney were back in McLennan County in 1930 but were not living together. Maggie stated she was a widow. She was employed as a seamstress at a dry goods store and rented a home for $13 a month at 1915 Jefferson Street in Waco. Five children were still at home with her, including 8 year old Lawrence, born after the 1920 census.9
Cens-19305 Apr 1930  Sidney had been recorded 2 days earlier, living with his mother and working as a machinist at the railroad shops. The enumerator marked him as single.10
Maggie and Sidney had had one additional child in 1926 who died at 3 weeks of age.11
Cens-194021 Apr 1940  Maggie remained in Waco although she moved to a location described on the 1940 census as 520 West side North 9th Street. She paid $15 a month and shared the home with her sons Marcus and Lawrence. Maggie worked as a hotel maid. Also sharing the home were Maggie's daughter Edna and Edna's husband Joseph Johnson. Edna and Joseph were the parents of a 9 month old daughter named Margaret. Joseph sold house appliances.12
Years later Joseph and Maggie would found a construction empire that built hospitals, subdivisions and shopping centers in the West Houston area.
Death12 Dec 1966 Margaret died on 12 Dec 1966 at Waco in McLennan County, Texas, at age 76.3
Burial15 Dec 1966 She was buried on 15 Dec 1966 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas.3,13
