Birth23 Oct 1877 Lavinia Allison was probably born on 23 Oct 1877 in Washington County, Virginia, although her death certificate reported the year as 1878.4,5,3,6
Name Other  Lavinia was known as Lulu throughout her adult life.
Marriage28 Nov 1899 She married George Thomas Gardner, son of Thomas Edmondson Gardner and Ellen Eliza Lansdown, on 28 Nov 1899 in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia.3,7
Cens-19009 Jun 1900 After their marriage George and Lulu settled at Marion in Smyth County, Virginia. There they were enumerated in 1900 living next to George's parents. George was employed as a farm laborer.5
Migration  Sometime after the birth of Edwin in early 1905 and before the birth of Allison in the spring of 1908 George and Lulu migrated to California.
George's brother Edwin had settled in Ventura County, California some years earlier.
Cens-191015 Apr 1910 By 1910 Lavinia and George had also settled in Ventura County although the exact location is not clear from the census record. The street was listed as "county road" and the incorporated place as Santa Paula town. The township was corrected to read Ventura, but Saticoy precinct and Santa Paula had both been previously entered. George's 1910 census entry reported that he was a farmer and that his farm was mortgaged. Lulu's entry noted that she was the mother of 3 children, but only 2 were living at the time.8
Cens-192020 Jan 1920 In 1920 the location of the family farm was described as on Telephone Road in Ventura township.9
Cens-193016 Apr 1930 The 1930 cenus again listed the address as Telephone Road, but further described the location as the community of Saticoy. George reported that he owned the farm, and in response to a question unique to that years census, that he also owned a radio.10
Death13 Nov 1951 Lavinia died on 13 Nov 1951 in Ventura County, California, at age 73.1
