Cens-187020 Jul 1870 After the Civil War ended Ryburn returned home to Washington County, Virginia where he and Virginia started a family. They were recorded in 1870 with George, age 3, Amanda, age 2, and Beattie, born in March.2 
Cens-188016 Jun 1880  Ten years later they were still farming in the Goodson district of the county. Their family had grown by the addition of son Taylor and daughter Virginia.3
