Militarybetween 1862 and 1865  H.C. Johnson, who was known as "Tobe", joined company F, Wallers Battalion of Green's Brigade in 1862 at Ft. Worth, Texas, serving through 1865. He fought in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas and was elected first lieutenant by his company.4 
Marriage14 Nov 1865 Henry married Virginia Montgomery Gardner, daughter of Jeremiah Caleb Gardner and Margaret Montgomery Edmiston, on 14 Nov 1865 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, after he came home from the Civil War.4 
Cens-18805 Jun 1880 By 1880 Henry and Virginia lived in Ft. Worth where Henry worked as a livery keeper.2 
Death26 Sep 1896 Henry died on 26 Sep 1896 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, at age 60.4
