Cens-19005 Jun 1900  Following the death of their father (their mother had died in 1872) John became the head of the household. Enumerated with him in 1900 were his sisters, Annie (53) and Sarah (49).7 
Cens-191022 Apr 1910  John's older brother was not recorded with them in 1900, but by 1910 he also was present. Both men stated that they were farming.8 
Cens-192026 Jan 1920  Annie died in 1915, but in 1920 John (63), William (65) and Sarah (69) were all still living on the farm.9 
Death18 Dec 1929 John died on 18 Dec 1929 at age 73.1 
Burial He was buried at Paperville Cemetery in Sullivan County, Tennessee.1
