Birth7 Dec 1842 Sarah Elizabeth McConnell was born on 7 Dec 1842 in Washington County, Virginia.1
Childhood Sarah's mother died when she was about 5. Her father, William, then returned to his parent's home with Sarah and her younger brother David.5
He also remarried and had another child. However in the early 1850s William died and Sarah and her younger brother David went to live with their mother's youngest brother, Jacob Campbell and his wife.6
Sarah probably only lived with them a few years as Jacob died in 1863.
In 1870 Sarah's brother David and their cousin, John Worley, lived in Missouri with John's mother, Ann Campbell Worley Clark. Sarah's place of residence in 1870 has not been identified and it is possible she too was in Missouri briefly.
Cens-18801880  If Sarah did join her brother in Missouri she did not remain long. By 1880 she lived with another uncle, David Campbell and his wife Susan in the Abingdon District of Washington County. Also a part of that household was Sarah's grandmother, Ann (Ryburn) Campbell. Ann's cousin John Worley had not stayed in Missouri and was also living with the Campbells.7
Marriage18 Jun 1885 She married David M. Campbell, son of James L. Campbell and Eliza Brown, on 18 Jun 1885 in Washington County.8
Widowed  Unfortunately, their marriage was not a long one.
Cens-1900Jun 1900  By June 1900 Sarah again lived with her uncle, David Campbell and his wife, Susan. She was enumerated as a widow.9
