Birth21 Jun 1859 John Walter Horne was born on 21 Jun 1859 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
Childhood  John was the 6th child and 3rd son in a family of 8 children that included a sister who died young. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Washington County. 
Migration  John left home as a young man and migrated west. He settled first in Illinois where he worked on a farm for a few years. From there he traveled to Oregon where he eventually entered the ministry of the Methodist Church.3 
Marriage22 Apr 1896 He married Mattie Lincoln, daughter of Charles Francis Lincoln and Harriet Clark, on 22 Apr 1896 in Smyth County, Virginia.4,5 
  John's brother, Andrew, was already married to Mattie's sister Laura. 
Residence He was living in Portland, Oregon, iat the time of his marriage.5 
Residence Following their marriage, John and Mattie lived in Allerton, Wayne County, Iowa, where their first two children were born.3 
Cens-191015 Apr 1910 By the summer of 1906 they had relocated to Rushsylvania Village, Logan County, Ohio, where they were later enumerated on the 1910 census. John was 47 and Mattie was 38. They were renting a home on North Miami Street and John was a minister for the "ME" [Methodist-Episcopal] Church. The family had grown by the addition of two daughters, Mary (3) and Martha (8 mos), both born in Ohio.6 
Cens-192013 Jan 1920 Some time prior to the 1920 census they moved to nearby LaRue Village in Marion County.7 
Death1947 John died in 1947.4
