Military  During the Civil War, Nathan may have served as a private in Company C, of the 22nd Regiment (Cavalry) which was part of McClelland's Brigade, Lomax Div, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America.4 
Heir24 Dec 1867  When Nathan's father's estate was finally settled in December 1867, Nathan was listed among the heirs although the monies he received were paid to Walter Johnson as his guardian and may have been paid as early as 1863.1
