Cens-187023 Aug 1870 When Sarah married John Hagy in February 1870, she became the mother of an instant family. The 1870 census, recorded several months after their marriage listed she and John, along with his six children, who ranged in age from John (13) to Sally (3). They were living in Abingdon, where John was employed as a printer.7 
Cens-188022 Jun 1880  Ten years later they were still in Abingdon, and five of the children were still living at home.8 
  John was affiliated with the Abingdon Virginian for more than 50 years. He served as a member of the Abingdon Town Council and was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church where he was an elder.5 
Death27 Jul 1904 John died on 27 Jul 1904 at age 76.2,3 
Burial He was buried with both of his wives at Sinking Spring Cemetery, Washington County, Virginia.2
