Cens-Sum  Nancy and James raised two sons and a daughter in Washington County. In 1860 James owned land valued at $2,000; in 1870 his land was valued at $1,000.6,7 
24 Jul 1867  The change in value may partly reflect the 24 Jul 1867 deed in which James and Nancy deeded their son Columbus 18 acres of land "in consideration of natural love and affection which parties of the first part bear unto their son... and in further consideration of support and attention as they grow old."8 
WidowedSep 1876  James died in the fall of 1876. 
Cens-18808 Jun 1880  Four years later Nancy was enumerated as the head of her own household which also included her son Columbus, his wife Mary, and their children.9 
Death14 Jan 1886 Nancy died on 14 Jan 1886 at age 69.2 
Burial She was buried at Kelly's Chapel Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.2
