Birth25 Oct 1849 Robert Grant was born on 25 Oct 1849 in Virginia.2 
Marriage8 May 1878 He married first Isabella D. Lowry, daughter of James K. Lowry, on 8 May 1878 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
  Robert's sister Elizabeth "Betty" Grant was already married to Isabella's brother David Lowrey. 
Widowed19 May 1888  Isabella died of consumption in May 1888. The couple had at least two children together. 
Marriage26 Sep 1889 He married second Nannie Blanche Reed, daughter of Benjamin Reed and Hettie Jane Sharp, on 26 Sep 1889.3 
  Robert was about 40; Blanche was about 18. 
Cens-19006 Jun 1900  Ten years after their marriage Robert and Blanche were recorded on the 1900 census. They farmed land in the Abingdon District of Washington County, adjacent to Robert's sister Fannie and her husband Isaac Rambo. Robert and Blanche (who was recorded as "Nannie Blanch") were the parents of 4 children, 3 sons and a daughter.4 
Death15 Apr 1907 Robert died on 15 Apr 1907 at age 57.2 
Burial He was buried with Blanche at Bethel Cemetery in Washington County.2 
  Robert was a charter member of Bethel Church, having signed the 1881 petition to the Abingdon Presbytery by which the church was officially recognized.5
