Marriage8 Dec 1834 She married William Hutton, son of Leonard Hutton and Martha McCall, on 8 Dec 1834 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
  In the first years of their marriage William and Eliza lived in Smyth County, Virginia, however by 1860 they had settled in neighboring Washington County. The couple raised a family that included 6 children. Two daughters, Lucinda and Mary Frances, died in Sept. 1857. Two of the older children, Martha and Jerome, died as young adults in April 1864. William and Eliza's oldest son, William Leonard, married in 1858 and established a household adjacent to his parents.3,4 
Widowed1876  William died in 1876. 
Land-Quit17 Sep 1877  The following year, on Sept. 17, 1877, Eliza quit claimed her dower interest in what was described as "The Waterman purchase", to Leonard Hutton.5 
Cens-18804 Jun 1880  Eliza was enumerated as the head of her household in 1880. She resided in the Kinderhook District of Washington County where she was caring for her 4 year old grandson, James Piper Hutton [enumerated as James Piper]. Eliza's son William [James' father] lived nearby.6 
Death14 Nov 1883 Eliza died on 14 Nov 1883 at age 71.2
