Will | 13 Dec 1863 | Polly's brothers Richard and John both died in the spring of 1863. In December Polly ("Mary") wrote her own will. She left her real and personal estate to her sister Jane, but stipulated that following Jane's death the land was to pass to James P. Clark, son of Peter [who was married to Jane's sister Margaret]. Polly also asked that her slaves be freed and paid $300 from the proceeds of her personal estate. The rest of her personal estate was to be divided between Margaret Clark and Susan McClure [her living sisters].4 |

- [S2340] Mary Montgomery headstone, Rock Spring Cemetery, Washington County, Virginia. This marker was probably placed around 1970 by a daughter of James Peter Clark. It may have been a replacement marker for an earlier stone although none was cataloged in High On A Windy Hill. The stone reads: Mary Montgomery 1803-1864.

- [S16] It is not known who originally owned this Montgomery family bible. The script does not appear to be that of Richard Montgomery Sr., at least compared to his signature on his Rev. War. pension application. The pages containing family information were located tucked into the bible of Peter and Margaret (Montgomery) Clark. Margaret was a daughter of Richard Montgomery Sr..
