Milit-Reg5 Jun 1917  Virgil registered for the World War I draft on 5 Jun 1917. He listed his permanent address as 7 Mile Ford in Smyth County, Virginia, and stated that he was born near Holston Mills, Virginia. Virgil was of medium build with brown eyes and dark hair. He was single but claimed an exemption because he was supporting his mother. He listed his occupation as farmer, and his mother, Mrs. Etta Maiden, as his employer.1 
Marriage27 Oct 1923 He married Mae Hart on 27 Oct 1923.3 
Cens-19304 Apr 1930  After their marriage Virgil and Mae spent at least a few years in West Virginia where their first 3 children were born. Virgil may have worked as a coal miner, an occupation he continued when the couple returned to Virginia. The 1930 census recorded them living in Smyth County, specifically back in the community of Holston Mills.4 
DeathSep 1974 Virgil died in Sep 1974.3
