Occupation  He studied at Emory and Henry College and was admitted into the Holston Conference as a Methodist minister in 1877. He was known as an excellent preacher and served many churches in the area.2,6,7 
Marriage4 Mar 1880 He married Anna A. Warren, daughter of Thomas Warren, on 4 Mar 1880 in Washington County.1 
Cens-190015 Jun 1900 The 1900 census enumeration found George and Anna living in Wytheville, in Wythe County with 3 children: Wiley (14), Earnest (11) and Warren (16). Anna's entry states that she was the mother of 5 children, 4 of whom were living [an infant daughter was born and died in 1891]. The couple owned their own home, which was not mortgaged.5 
Cens-192019 Jan 1920  Later in life George and Annie returned to Abingdon. They lived at 110 E. Valley Street when the 1920 census was enumerated.8 
Death25 Sep 1941 George died on 25 Sep 1941, one day shy of his 90th birthday.4 
Burial He was buried at Emory Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
