Will-Recd28 May 1849 Andrew's will was dated April 4th 1849 and recorded May 28th 1849 in Washington County. He left his wife Isabella the use of his land, stock, wagon and farming utensils as long as she remained his widow. When his son Robert turned 21 the land was to be divided into 3 parcels with Robert to receive 1/3 of the 2/3 portion. Though the will did not specifically clarify this, Isabella would have been allowed the use of the other 1/3 as her dower share. Andrew provided that his other 2 sons, John and Andrew James were also to receive 1/3 each of the 2/3 portion when they turned 21. Andrew's daughters, whom he named as Margaret, Ann, Sarah, Dorcas, Phoebe and Margaret, each received a horse, saddle and bridle.6
However, Andrew's infant son Andrew James died May 18th, 1849, just 6 weeks after Andrew wrote his will and just 10 days before the will was recorded at court.
29 Mar 1850  And Isabella did not remain a widow long. A little less than a year after Andrew's death, in March 1850, she married Andrew Hawks who was 19 at the time. Isabella was 33, the mother of 8 children.
Court Record26 Aug 1850 On 26 Aug 1850, in Washington County, Robert Larimer and Nathaniel McClure were named guardian of Andrew Larimer's "infant" children: Robert, John, Sally, Dorcas, Phoebe and Mary. The following month James McCall was named guardian of Margaret, and James Orr was named guardian of Ann. In part, these guardianships were necessary to probate Andrew Larimer's estate, especially in light of Isabella's remarriage.7
29 Apr 1852  However Isabella herself died 2 years after this second marriage. She died in the spring of 1852, barely 35 years old.8
