  Although her headstone uses 1842 as her year of birth, another record uses 1843 which is closer to Dorcas's reported age of 6 on the 1850 census. However Dorcas's younger sister Phoebe was born in November, 1844, making the December 1843 date less likely. 
Cens-185019 Sep 1850  Dorcas was recorded living in the household of her stepfather, Andrew Hawk, on the 1850 census of Washington County, Virginia.6 
Ward26 Aug 1850  Dorcas's father, Robert Larimer Sr., had died in the spring of 1849. On 26 Aug 1850 Dorcas and 5 of her siblings became the wards of Robert Larimer and Nathaniel McClure.7 
Court Record12 Dec 1864  Nathaniel's final guardianship report, filed in 1871, shows a payment of $164.21 made to Dorcas on 12 Dec 1864 shortly after she turned 21. This was an amount equal to that received by her other siblings who were also Nathaniel's wards.1 
Marriage27 Jul 1865 She married William R. Hawthorne on 27 Jul 1865 in Washington County.3 
Death24 Jan 1889 Dorcas died on 24 Jan 1889 at age 46.4 
Burial She was buried at Sinking Spring Cemetery in Washington County.4
