Fath-Death  Robert's father died in 1849; his mother remarried the following year. 
Cens-185019 Sep 1850  Robert was enumerated as a 12 year old living in his stepfather's household when the 1850 Washington County, Virginia census was recorded. His 7 siblings were also present.4 
Ward26 Aug 1850  The court assigned Robert and his siblings guardians that summer in order to probate their father's estate. Robert became the ward of Robert Larimer and Nathaniel McClure.5 
Devisee13 May 1876 On 13 May 1876 Robert received a payment of $1 from the estate of Robert Larimer [the younger Robert's grandfather]. Robert, in his will dated 1875, left $1 to each of his children by his first wife. Since Andrew Larimer, son of the elder Robert and his first wife, was deceased, the younger Robert appears to have "inherited" the token $1 payment as his father's eldest son.6 
  Robert is reported to have remained single.3
