Birth22 Feb 1895 James Edwin Gardner was born on 22 Feb 1895 in Texas.2 
  Around 1907 James' mother left Granbury, Hood County, Texas where the family had been living, and resettled in Walnut Springs, Bosque County. James' younger brother Toby moved with her. 
Cens-191019 Apr 1910  However James (who appears to have used "Edwin" in his youth) and his older brother Walter remained in Granbury with their father.4 
Marriage He married Sula Rebecca Tarver. 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920  By 1920 James was also living in Walnut Springs where he and Sula were enumerated in Jan. of that year. James worked as a machinist in the railroad shops.5 
Cens-19301930 However in 1930 they were recorded in Cross Plains, Callahan County, Texas, where they rented a home for $20 a month. They also owned a radio. James worked as a machinist at a machine shop. He and Lula were also the parents of 5 year old James E. Jr.6 
Death2 Nov 1991 James died on 2 Nov 1991 at age 96.2 
Burial He was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas.2
