Birth22 Mar 1883 Marion Grant Edmondson was born on 22 Mar 1883 in Virginia.3,4,1
Marion was the 10th child and youngest son in a family of 11 children, most of whom did not survive past young adulthood.
Marriage He married Laura M. (?).4
Cens-191018 Apr 1910  Marion and Laura lived for several years in Washington County, Virginia, after their marriage. There they were enumerated in 1910 with their first child, 1 year old Aileen. Marion's nephew, 16 year old Andrew Cole [son of his deceased sister Rosa] was also recorded with them. Marion was employed as a farmer.5
When the census was recorded in April, Laura was pregnant with twins. She gave birth in June, but the babies did not survive. Marion is one of the many (more than 15 at present count) descendants of Ann Ryburn and John Buchanan to have twins. Marion's aunt, Rosa Miriam (Edmondson) Clark gave birth to twins in 1892 who also did not survive.

According to the 1920 census, the couple's next child was born about 1914 in Virginia. However, this may not indicate that the family was residing in Virginia at the time.
Land-Patent29 Sep 1915 On 29 Sep 1915 Marion received a patent from the federal government for 320 acres of homesteaded land in Union County, New Mexico. The tract was located in sections 8 and 9 of township 29 north, range 31 east.6
In order to receive the homestead patent Marion had to have lived on the land for the majority of the previous 3 years. This would seem to indicate that the family was probably in New Mexico prior to the birth of daughter Marion. Perhaps Laura was visiting in Virginia when the baby was born. Marion's parents moved to Union County about 1911 and many of his siblings had settled there as well.
Milit-Reg12 Sep 1918  Marion registered for the World War I draft on September 12th, 1918 while living in Union County. The form described him as 5'8" tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and light hair. His permanent address was listed as Des Moines, New Mexico.1
Cens-Sum  The 1920 and 1930 census enumerations listed the couple and their 3 daughters in Union County. In 1930 Marion was working as a rancher; the family also reported that they owned a radio.4,7
DeathSep 1969 Marion died in Sep 1969 in Raton, Colfax County, New Mexico, at age 86.3
