Research Comment:

Jane's parents are not clear at this time. Two death record entries were made for her (one recorded at the courthouse at Abingdon; one submitted to the state of Virginia). One reports her parents as Jas L. and Eliza Campbell; the other uses James L. and Elizabeth Campbell.

Jane was born and died between census years so she does not appear with her family. I had originally entered her as a child of Col. James Lafayette Franklin Campbell and Rosannah E. McConnell, however I am no longer sure this is accurate. For one thing, I do not have concrete evidence that Rosannah's middle name was Eliza or Elizabeth. I also discovered another James L. Campbell. His wife was Eliza (Brown) Campbell. Both couples had gaps in the sequence of their children that would allow for a child born in the 1850-1852 timeframe. It may be important that Jane's death entry lists her father as James L. and not James L.F. Campbell. Col. James L.F. Campbell typically used the additional initial to distinguish himself from James L. Campbell.1,2
