Marriagecirca 1901 He married Stacy Roetta Ryburn, daughter of Samuel Washington Ryburn and Stacy Maria Crumley, circa 1901.2
Resid-Sum  The couple appear to have moved several times in the first years of their marriage, possible due to Charles's occupation as a locomotive engineer. Their first child, Louise, was born in 1902 in Virginia; their second child, Nell, was born about 1906 in West Virginia, and their third child, Paul, was born late in 1909 in Tennessee.
Cens-19102 Apr 1910 By April 1910 the family was settled in the town of Erwin, in Unicoi County, Tennessee. Stacy's cousin, John Patrick Sharp Ryburn and his family were already established residents of the town. The 1910 census enumeration list several boarders residing with Charles and Stacy and their children. Three of these boarders also worked for the railroad.2
Cens-19202 Jan 1920  By 1920 there were no boarders in the home but a daughter Millicent had been added to the family. Another daughter, Charlotte was born and died in 1912. The 1920 census also added the information that the family was living on Love Street.3
This street ran perpendicular to the railroad tracks through the town of Erwin.
