BirthDec 1884 John William Ramsey was born in Dec 1884 in Virginia.2
Fath-DeathOct 1891 John, at age 6, was probably the oldest of at least 4 siblings when his father died in 1891.
Cens-19007 Jun 1900 In the summer of 1900 a federal census enumeration was made for Washington County, Virginia. John, his mother and brothers were all recorded living in the Goodson district.2
John's mother listed her occupation as "farmer"; undoubtedly John was a huge help to her, especially before his 1907 marriage.
Marriage17 Mar 1907 He married Corrie Lee Felty on 17 Mar 1907.3
Cens-19101910 By 1910 John and his wife Carrie, to whom he had been married for 3 years, were living in the Abingdon district with their two year old son whom they had named William.4
Jan 1918  John's mother died in early 1918. It appears John may have inherited at least a portion of the lands she had been living on as the 1920 census recorded he and his family living back in the Goodson district.
Cens-19201920  John was farming, and a daughter Nellie had been added to the family.5

  6. [S2] Catherine McConnell, High On A Windy Hill, p. 377. John's stone was apparently set at the time of Carrie's death but without a date of death. At the time Walnut Grove Cemetery was "read" for High on A Windy Hill (1960s), John was apparently still living.
