Marriage19 Jun 1901 He married May Virginia Ryburn, daughter of John Patrick Sharp Ryburn and Caroline Agnes Crumley, on 19 Jun 1901 in Unicoi County, Tennessee.3,4 
Migration Shortly after their 1901 marriage Joseph and May migrated to Texas as their first child was born in Howard County, Texas in June 1903. 
Cens-19101910  By 1910 they had settled in neighboring Martin County where Joseph was employed as a hardware salesman. The household also included son Ryburn and daughter Louise.2 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920 However prior to 1920 they resettled in the community of Mineral Wells in Palo Pinto County where they resided at 316 SW 4th Street. Besides 16 year old Ryburn [Joseph Ryburn] and 15 year old Louise, the household included 83 year old Mrs. B. Gates, identified as an aunt.5 
Widowed7 Oct 1920  May died the following fall, in Oct., 1920 after suffering a stroke at the age of 41. 
Cens-19305 Apr 1930  After May's death Joseph and Ryburn moved to Ft. Worth where Joseph worked as an oil supply salesman.6 
Death30 Sep 1956 Joseph died on 30 Sep 1956 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 76. He had suffered from long standing heart problems some of which were secondary to childhood rheumatic fever.7 
Burial1 Oct 1956 He was buried on 1 Oct 1956 at Elmwood Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas.7
